MISSION
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27
"Still Creek Ranch's mission is to rescue at-risk children and raise them to be in relationship with Christ and equipped for life. We seek to have a multi-generational impact by breaking the cycle of crisis and empowering them to make Biblical decisions, have healthy relationships, and reach their full God-given potential."
The History of Still Creek
In 1979, early ministries of Flip Flippen were the beginnings of what would become Still Creek. After graduating from Texas A&M University, he began a pro bono counseling service in the Bryan / College Station area. Through this service and the addition of a coffee house ministry, he met many wonderful people. This included the Dansby Family. The Dansby’s gave Flip acreage where Sandy Point Rd intersects Still Creek (our namesake). Along with ministries called The Answer is Jesus Christ Ministries, Still Creek Farm was born as a summer intervention program for at-risk boys in the Brazos Valley. Flip Flippen would have a vision that someday he would have 500 acres, cross-fenced, at the end of a road, with homes for boys. A few years later a purchase was made at the end of Hearne Rd, east of Bryan, TX, that was the realization of this dream. Esther Dansby gave the funds to build the first big home at the new Still Creek location in honor of her late husband, Mitt. Many boys were served in the counseling ministry, in the summer challenge program, and in the new homes out at Still Creek.
By 1988, Still Creek Boys Ranch, Inc. was restructured and formed. Danny & Margaret O’Quinn would become the directors for the ranch for approximately 25 years. In this time, the ranch began to grow with the addition of more homes, a large arena for equestrian classes, an accredited school, and the addition of girls and homes for girls to the program. Margaret was known to many for her great faith and prayer walks on the ranch that led to many answered prayers. Danny was among many other skills, an accomplished horseman. Many children learned to ride and many life lessons from Mr. Danny. Numerous miracles were seen during those years for provision, for rescue of children, and certainly for family legacies and trajectory changed for the good.
Today, Still Creek has six homes for children, with two of the homes serving as relief / respite homes. An additional three duplex / apartments house our Transitional Living Program for young adults who have graduated from Still Creek and receive help into the early stages of college and careers. Still Creek Christian Academy is fully accredited as a school with Cognia. Still Creek is a therapeutic boarding school and operates 100% on donated funds and fully scholarships all of the children who reside at the ranch. Still Creek remains, as always, debt-free and free from government funding.
Coming fall 2024, thanks to generous funding from Freed People (freedpeople.org), Still Creek will open a transitional home in Ellis Co. on 11 acres to serve children in their earliest days at the ranch. Still Creek serves an average of 40 children annually, and the average time that a child lives at the ranch is currently 2.76 years (2024 numbers).
