STILL CREEK CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
Still Creek Christian Academy is our onsite 4-12 school. Accredited through Cognia (formerly AdvancED), we're dedicated to advancing a Christ-centered worldview that puts trust in God as the firm foundation for a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Knowing that our students come from crisis, our faculty and staff partner with house parents, counselors, and community members to come along side the Holy Spirit in bringing healing to our children's wounds. We supplant lies with the Truth and love our kids through the messy and often frustrating ups and downs of working through past trauma. Ultimately, we invite our students to become ministers of the gospel with us. It is not enough for our students to simply survive crisis- we intentionally encourage, equip and empower them to overcome their trauma and become leaders and fellow-workers with us as we labor to bring all things back into a right relationship with our God and Creator. STILL CREEK HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE PROGRAM
By the time our students graduate, we want them to be able to wield the Word of God effectively in personal devotion, family and church community, and in holding forth the gospel with grace and conviction to the world.
Survey
Survey is a two semester course that gives an overview of the entire Bible. Survey is meant to introduce students to the cohesive message of the entire Bible as well as the key themes, structure, literary genres, and historical and philosophical contexts as a foundation for students to build upon in their devotional lives and doctrinal convictions. Through this course, students should understand the relationship between the whole and individual parts of the Bible. They should be better able to understand and interpret smaller portions of the Bible.
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4
Exegesis
Exegesis a semester-long course meant to equip students to properly interpret biblical passages. Students will learn to make critical textual observations regarding historical, cultural, literary, and linguistic contexts to help them better determine the author's intent and the original audience's understanding of the text. Students will become more judicious in evaluating doctrine and spiritual teachings.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."
II Timothy 2:15
Doctrine
Doctrine is a semester-long course that will introduce students to essential Christian doctrine and the biblical and rational foundations of core Christian beliefs. Students will engage in the noble conversation that asks, "What is truth and how do we know it?" This course builds upon the overall biblical narrative studied in Survey and engages the skills acquired in Exegesis to help students discover and develop meaningful understandings of the Word.
"Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.” I Corinthians 2:12-13
Apologetics
Apologetics is a two semester course in which students develop the knowledge and skills to give a reasoned and winsome answer for the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Students will engage with a variety of challenges to the claims of Christianity, learning to evaluate arguments and respond with clarity, humility, and courage.
“but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” I Peter 3:15
Capstone
Capstone is a two semester course that sets the student out on a journey with the Word as the lamp for the feet. The student will be required to choose a biblical topic and design a project that puts truth into action. The goal of this course is to help students use the Word of God to bring Him glory in the real world where life happens.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22
