Rebuilding in Dominica
|
Dominica is a tiny island of only 73,000 people nestled between St. Lucia and Antigua. Student enrollment at Texas A&M University in College Station is almost higher than the total population on the island! In the fall of 2017, Dominica was devastated by Hurricane Maria, a category 5 hurricane. Approximately 90% of the buildings on the island were seriously damaged or destroyed.
Still Creek has the privilege of partnering with Dominica Church of Christ and the village of Marigot to repair homes and a local school that still remain damaged post-hurricane. Alongside the team of local Dominicans, students will have the opportunity to participate in construction projects, fellowship with local believers, and encourage the village to remain steadfast in their faith that God will keep watch over us always. Prior to our departure, students will participate in weekly preparatory meetings with our staff advisors. Students will prepare their hearts and minds for the mission that awaits us, educate themselves on the local culture, and prepare for international travel. As we prepare for this journey, we need the support of people like you! Would you prayerfully consider supporting our students with a financial gift to help bring this opportunity to fruition? We know that this mission trip will not just affect our students for a lifetime, but it will also bear eternal fruit! |
