TAKE MY YOKE
By Mandy Burlin, Director of Fundraising
Last year Still Creek Ranch received an amazing opportunity to bring in funds through a challenge grant. The Jensen Foundation generously awarded us the Jenesis Grant, which included a $50,000 challenge grant last year. This year, the Jenesis Grant includes a very generous $100,000 challenge grant! However, we have some work to do before those funds are officially donated. A challenge grant is a grant in which Still Creek is required to raise a portion of the funds and the grant foundation will match what we bring in 1:1, up to the designated amount (in this case, $100,000). The funds brought in for the challenge grant must adhere to one of the following criteria: 1) New Donors (i.e., people who have never donated or did not donate during 2015 or 2016): To qualify, the donation has to be AT LEAST $2,000. If you didn't donate in 2015 or 2016, any donation of AT LEAST $2,000 qualifies. 2) Existing Donors (i.e., people who gave in 2015 or 2016): If you donated in 2015 or 2016, a donation that EXCEEDS LAST YEAR'S AMOUNT BY AT LEAST $2,000 qualifies, but only the increased portion counts towards the challenge grant. |
INTAKE HOME: A REST FOR WEARY SOULS
The donations towards the challenge grant will go to add an exciting new piece to strengthen Still Creek’s mission: a transition/intake home for incoming residents! It’s been our experience that the transition from an unstable situation into the structured environment of Still Creek is extremely difficult for most children. They are taken out of chaos (where they most likely acted as their own parent) and placed into a home with children who aren’t their siblings, put in the care of a couple who aren’t their parents, and enrolled in a new school with new teachers and a scheduled day. It is overwhelming and can lead children to feel incapable and disempowered. We envision the transitional homes to have fewer children, home schooling, and intensive spiritual and emotional counseling. Then, once the resident and our staff feel they are ready, the resident will move into one of the regular homes and enroll in the Academy. An intake home will help new residents to lay a strong foundation and be successful from the very beginning. Please consider giving to Still Creek Ranch and let’s watch God DOUBLE the impact of your donation! Your donation will help make even deeper transformations in every child that steps foot into our homes. |
